The last week was filled with swimming lessons, visits with friends, strawberry picking, thunder storms, playing in the sand, video/computer games, relaxing, reading and playing outside. On the weekend we enjoyed the parade in Selkirk, a movie and supper with Stacey, Brian, Sam and Jack, a game of Monopoly, and a swim, supper and visit with Murray's family.
All in all it was a fun week...alot of good summer memories were made!
I was reminded that I am not a perfect parent...that emotions sometimes run high and you have to let things take their course. I am learning that I can't control everything and that sometimes people will be disappointed, and that is okay. I always tell my kids that what matters to me most is that they try their best and they learn as they go, they don't have to be perfect or first, just be proud of their accomplishments and do their best. Good advice that I am learning to take too.
Some special memories for me....seeing Grace's smile all through swimming lessons; watching Abby take such good care of Grace and making sure she wasn't scared; watching the kids play with the army men in the sand (very elaborate system they had going); seeing Abby trying to get Tyler and Grace follow the rules during the Monopoly game...she is so much like me!; how they all managed to pull it together and have fun playing the game; time with Tyler on our bike ride and sitting in the middle of the fields talking; the butterfly that sat on my hand for such a long time; and watching the kids play in the pool with their cousins...alot of laughter and fun!
Blessings are all around me.
