SUMMER IS HERE!!!  We made it....no more school, a break from work, no worries about getting up early and making lunches.  The last couple of days we have been getting used to being together...smooth sailing some of the time, other times, not so much!  There is always that transition period where we see more fighting and complaining about what is and isn't happening around the house.  I have to work hard to try not to 'fix' everything...they have to work stuff out on their own and learn to compromise with each other.
Some of the things we have accomplished over the last couple of days are....
  • getting our passports applications done.  the photos were so funny, the paper work took forever but, thankfully, the wait at the office wasn't long.
  • seeing Toy Story 3 in 3D...wow, what a great movie.  all the kids loved it and us Moms cried and laughed....and then cried some more!
  • bike rides to Mama and Papa's to go swimming
  • Abby discovered she loves to cook...successfully making cookies, coke floats and grilled cheese sandwiches all by herself!
  • teacher gifts wrapped and cards made...that is always an adventure!
  • the van got cleaned...well over-due!
  • Murray turned 45
  • our garden looks great and we have been eating lettuce and radishes already...yummy.  I even picked a hot pepper today!
  • we started our summer to do list
  • fireworks in Selkirk for Canada Day...even Murray came!
  • many games of Monopoly started, some finished!
  • a lot of grass cut and weeds pulled
Pictures will be loaded and shared on another day.  The Queen is coming to Winnipeg tomorrow and we are hoping to catch a glimpse.
I will take a deep breath and give thanks for my amazing children and wonderful husband.  I will remind myself that we are not all perfect, but we love each other and are the journey together...for better or worse.  I will thank God for the patience I need and for helping me remember the bigger picture when I need reminding.
Tomorrow will be a great day!
