I am having a hard time believing that Christmas has come and gone. Last night we had one more family dinner and there is still New Year's Eve to celebrate, but, for the most part it is over. And it has been wonderful...I would not have changed a thing. This year we all recieved a special gift, a gift of time at home and enough snow to finally make it feel like Christmas. With the snow blowing and roads slippery we decided to stay on home on Christmas Day and just enjoy the 5 of us together...it was wonderful. The best part was that we still got to celebrate with family on Boxing Day once the weather settled down. Our Christmas dinner was steak, hash browns and ceaser salad...we weren't planning on being home so I hadn't planned a 'real' Christmas meal....eaten in our pjs at 8:00pm. Not what we are used to, but still pretty great.
On Boxing Day we added a cute little cat to our family. The kids are thrilled and I am hoping the novelty won't wear off too soon! They made a home for Ashes in the barn with some blankets on the hay bales. Murray made a ladder so she can climb up the the loft and she already found a couple of places to get in and out of the barn.
The rest of the week will probably go fast too but we still have 6 days to enjoy before we are back to the real world. Today we are going to return and exchange some gifts, enjoy a slow lunch somewhere and replace the door knob and lock on our side door.
For now though I am going to get another cup of coffee and enjoy the slow, quiet pace of the day so far.
