December 3 Prompt

Author: Ali Edwards
Prompt: Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).

Without a doubt, the first moment that popped into my head when I read this prompt is the day we spent at Niagra Falls in August.  Standing in line to board the Maid of the Mist boat, all of us together, sharing the experience with hundreds of other people.  The air was hot but we could feel the coolness from the water as we got closer to the boat.  The noises around us were mainly people talking, many different languages, a lot of laughter, some children crying and even some fighting among my kids!  I remember being herded into a room and before we knew what was happening they were taking our picture and then pushing us back with the larger group.  We were all laughing because we couldn't hear anything they were saying to us and we were so confused...but we kept following the group.
Favourite moments from the day.....laughing as the mist from the falls showered us while on the boat;  the bathroom with the foot washer in it;  wearing our Maid of the Mist raincoats in the rain as we walked down the street;  poor Grace being so scared in the wax museum;  Tyler putting his Snap-On hat on the Bart Simpson statue, forgetting it there and having to run back and get it;  Murray carrying Grace as we walked along the walkway by the falls.....
As we took in the sites, I was in awe of how grateful my kids were that we were there.  It was such a great experience to share together.
Taking the time to remember how I felt that day is a great way to help me focus on how lucky I am and all I have to be grateful for.
Cheers to a great weekend!
